A setback can come as a disappointing result, a missed opportunity, an injury, or a change of plans. It can feel like the end of a journey, but it can also be a moment to pause and build a new plan.

Begin by listening. Let the young person describe what happened and how they feel without rushing to fix it. Then ask what support they need and what small step is possible today. When a setback involves an injury or emotional distress, connect with qualified health or mental health professionals as appropriate.

Families can review goals, adjust routines, and celebrate progress that may not appear on a scoreboard. Growth is rarely a straight line.

Our Vision Sports Education Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), believes repair and rebuilding are part of a pathway to success for athletes and their families. Repair. Rebuild. Succeed.
